Tucson Welcomes 75th USHA Four‑Wall Nationals and Junior Championships

The 75th USHA Four‑Wall Nationals and the Junior Four‑Wall Nationals begin this week at the Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club, drawing more than 250 players from across the country. For the first time in USHA history the junior championships are being held alongside the senior competition; the event includes open singles and doubles play, live streaming of late Open rounds, and a Hall of Fame induction at the weekend banquet.

Tucson is hosting a milestone edition of American handball this week as the 75th USHA Four‑Wall Nationals open at the Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club. The anniversary tournament has attracted more than 250 competitors from around the country, and for the first time in the United States Handball Association’s history the Junior Four‑Wall Nationals will be held concurrently with the senior event. Organizers say the combined schedule brings multiple generations of players together under one roof at 4001 N. Country Club Road, turning the Tucson club into a hub for what promises to be an especially competitive week of four‑wall play.

Players are asked to complete early check‑in on Tuesday evening between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.; tournament staff will be stationed in the Courtside Kitchen on the club’s lower level to hand out player packets. Each packet includes the official tournament souvenir and meal vouchers that will be valid through the week, and players are encouraged to stop by during the early window to reduce delays when matches begin. A staffed registration desk will also be available each morning from 8:30 a.m. until noon, Wednesday through Friday, to handle late arrivals, bracket questions, and any administrative needs that arise once play is underway.

Competition shifts into action on Wednesday with singles play scheduled to begin that day. Most doubles brackets and the bulk of Junior Nationals matches are slated to start on Friday, meaning the middle of the week will be busy with singles rounds and seeding play. Organizers note that the tournament features deep draws in multiple divisions, so competitors should expect to face several highly challenging matchups as they progress through the brackets. With both established champions and rising junior talents on hand, the week’s schedule is designed to accommodate overlapping divisions while keeping daily play moving on the club’s courts.

Spectators who cannot make the trip to Tucson still have options to keep track of the action. The World Players of Handball (WPH) will stream late‑round matches from the Open divisions, offering viewers remote access to the most consequential contests as the tournament reaches its final stages. For fans and participants seeking up‑to‑the‑minute information on match pairings and court times, tournament draws and start lists will be updated online throughout the event; the brackets and schedule can be found on the tournament website at https://www.r2sports.com/tourney/home.asp?TID=50535. Those following along online should check back regularly, as draw changes and match time adjustments are common in events with large fields.

Officials have reiterated tournament policies related to officiating and match conduct. Players who lose a match are expected to serve as referees for the next match on the same court, a practice intended to keep play moving and ensure impartial coverage for every contest. To compensate volunteers for this work, referees will receive $10 per match officiated. Tournament leadership has emphasized the importance of this rotation both to the competition’s logistics and to maintaining standards of fair play across divisions, and participants are being reminded to report promptly to the assigned court to fulfill their refereeing duties.

The week culminates with a Nationals Celebration Banquet on Saturday night at 7 p.m. at the Arizona Sands Club. The banquet will include the induction of Tracy Davis into the USHA Handball Hall of Fame in the Player category; the ceremony is scheduled to honor Davis’ contributions to the sport in front of the handball community gathered in Tucson. The banquet provides an opportunity for athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters to gather off the courts to recognize achievements and share the social side of a week otherwise focused on competition.

Whether arriving to compete, to volunteer as officials, or to support friends and family from the gallery, participants and visitors are being asked to follow posted schedules and check in at the registration desk as needed. Tournament organizers have expressed appreciation in advance for the many volunteers and referees who will help run what is being described as one of the largest and most competitive Four‑Wall Nationals in recent memory. Further updates on match results, streaming schedules and any event changes will be posted on the tournament site throughout the week, and attendees are encouraged to consult those resources for the latest information.
