Arizona’s baseball season came to an unexpected early close in mid-May, leaving the program to pivot quickly into offseason roster work. The 2026 campaign was a dramatic regression from the previous year’s run to the College World Series, and that finish accelerated the opening moments of roster turnover as coaches, players and staff began planning for the 2027 season.

The NCAA transfer portal officially opened on a Monday this offseason, but a number of Wildcats had already made public their intentions to explore transfer opportunities. Those public declarations, combined with players who have reached the end of their eligibility and prospects for the upcoming Major League Baseball draft, mean Arizona’s roster could look substantially different when the team reconvenes for the next season-opening tournament at Globe Life Field in Texas in February 2027. The program will maintain an active tracker and update it as moves are finalized.
Nine players are listed as out of eligibility. That group includes second baseman Tyler Bickers; left-handers Luc Fladda, Patrick Morris and Mason Russell; right-handers Garrett Hicks and Matthew Martinez; third baseman Maddox Mihalakis; shortstop Mathis Meurant; and designated hitter Dom Rodriguez. With those names removed from the roster pool by virtue of exhausted eligibility, Arizona’s staff is left to fill multiple spots on both the mound and in the lineup.
In addition to those whose college careers are complete, several Wildcats have entered the NCAA transfer portal. The list of players who have declared their intent to transfer includes outfielder Sean Barta; utility IF/OF Jackson Forbes; outfielder Gunner Geile; infielder Ethan Guerra; right-handers Andrew Jacobs, Sam Round and Nolan Straniero; outfielder Chaz McNellis; catcher Roman Meyers; and right-hander Garrett Hicks. Those portal entries represent a mix of position players and pitchers, and the roster tracker will reflect any subsequent commitments or destinations as they are announced.
The 2026 Major League Baseball draft remains on the calendar for July 11-12, creating another potential source of roster change. Players who attract professional attention in the coming weeks may further alter the group of returning Wildcats; the program’s offseason tracker will note draft signings and any resulting departures as details become available.
A core of returners remains in place and will form the backbone of next year’s club. Holdovers include redshirt senior outfielder TJ Adams; redshirt senior right-hander JT Drake; redshirt senior Collin McKinney; redshirt senior Tony Pluta; redshirt senior catcher Beau Sylvester; senior right-hander Evan Brandt; seniors Easton Breyfogle and Andrew Cain in the outfield; senior right-handers Corey Kling, Owen Kramkowski and left-hander Maclain Roberts; redshirt junior outfielder Carson McEntire; junior right-hander Smith Bailey; juniors Tyler Russell in the outfield and Tony Lira at first base; redshirt sophomores Nate Novitske and others; sophomores Cash Brennan, Caleb Danzeisen, Joe Forbes, Benton Hickman, Jack Lafflam and Gavin Triezenberg. The roster listing also notes which players were redshirted during 2026, and those designations are reflected for planning purposes heading into the next season.

Arizona has also added a slate of new signees who committed in November. That group of incoming players includes outfielder Ben Ball; right-handers Jack Byers, James Hunt and Quinn O’Rourke; infielder Jory Crocker; third baseman Ayden Deome; junior college catcher Cooper Kruk; infielder Lyndon Lee; junior college outfielder Matthew Maize; left-hander Tommy Pascanu; catcher Francisco Rivero Jr.; infielder Abram Sherrin; and outfielder Drew Ward. Those November signings provide a mix of position players and bullpen options that the staff will evaluate as recruits move onto campus.
At the moment, the transfer portal commitments section remains open-ended, with the program and staff expected to report additions as they are finalized. The tracker will continue to be updated to reflect confirmed transfers in, draft departures, and any other roster changes that occur throughout the summer. For now, Arizona’s offseason roster picture is a mix of departures through exhausted eligibility and the portal, a core of returners that includes several upperclassmen and younger players, and a group of November signees who are set to join the program ahead of the 2027 campaign.
