CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — After spending the weekend on an official visit to Chapel Hill, three-star offensive lineman Lauifi Tosi confirmed Monday morning that he will attend the University of North Carolina. Tosi, listed at 6-foot-4 and roughly 320 pounds, traveled to Chapel Hill on Friday after receiving an offer from the Tar Heels in early March and opted to close his recruitment with the decision this week.
“I really like North Carolina,” Tosi said after his official visit. “I thought [the visit] was great. My recruiting, it might come to an end very soon, but I have to talk it over with my parents. I’m considering [committing] before [the remaining] visits.” The comments followed the weekend trip and preceded the formal announcement that he would join North Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class.
Tosi plays his high-school football at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona, where he lined up on both the offensive and defensive front for the Tigers. He earned a three-star rating and sits at No. 137 among offensive linemen in the Rivals industry rankings. Alongside interest from the Tar Heels, Tosi held offers from a range of programs that included Washington State, Sacramento State, Idaho, Stanford, Boise State and Eastern Michigan.

Prior to his commitment, Tosi had scheduled additional official visits. He was set to visit Sacramento State on June 5, Idaho on June 11 and Stanford on June 19; those plans were shelved once he announced his decision to commit to North Carolina on Monday. The timing of the Chapel Hill trip — coming after the offer in March — and his prompt decision to pledge suggested the visit had a decisive influence.

On the field last season with Millennium, Tosi helped the Tigers to a 7-4 record before the team fell in the first round of the Arizona 5A playoffs. He rotated between offensive and defensive line duties, finishing the year with eight total tackles and two tackles for loss. His play earned him recognition on the 5A All-Conference First Team, a distinction that reflected his role as a two-way lineman for the program.
Tosi’s commitment marks the first offensive lineman to join North Carolina’s 2027 recruiting class and is the program’s sixth overall pledge for that cycle. With his recruitment now closed, North Carolina has secured a prospect who brings size and two-way experience from the Arizona high-school ranks. The Tar Heels will add Tosi to the list of commitments as they shape their roster for the coming seasons.
