Buc-ee’s is expanding into Arizona with a vast new store set to open in Goodyear later this month. The company announced the location at 1001 N. Bullard Avenue will open its doors to the public at 6 a.m. MST on June 22. The building will span 74,000 square feet and include 120 fueling positions, a layout consistent with the chain’s reputation for large, multi-service travel stops. City Manager Bryan Langley, Mayor Joe Pizzillo and other local officials will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 8 a.m. that morning.

Company officials portrayed the Goodyear site as strategically placed for travelers in the region. "We could not have picked a better location for our first store in the Grand Canyon state. Perfectly placed for our road-trippers headed out to California or coming in for the destination-rich Phoenix area, Goodyear will be the place to stop," said Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s, stressing the store’s appeal to both long-haul motorists and visitors bound for the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Local leaders framed the store’s arrival as an economic win for the city. Mayor Joe Pizzillo said in a statement that Buc-ee’s selection of Goodyear underscores the area’s growing momentum, noting the project will bring jobs, visitors and economic opportunity. "We are incredibly excited that Buc-ee’s chose Goodyear as its newest home," Pizzillo said. "Their investment highlights the powerful economic momentum driving our city forward. This project brings new jobs, new visitors, and new opportunities for our community."

Pizzillo also invited visitors to explore what the city has to offer beyond the new travel stop. "We can’t wait to welcome travelers who come for the iconic Buc-ee’s experience and discover why Goodyear is one of the fastest-growing, most dynamic cities in the nation. While they’re here, we encourage visitors to explore our vibrant downtown at Goodyear Civic Square, enjoy our local restaurants and businesses, and experience everything that makes Goodyear such a special place to live, work, and visit," he said, tying the store’s opening to broader efforts to draw visitors into the city’s commercial and civic heart.

Buc-ee’s said the new Goodyear location will bring more than 200 jobs to the suburb west of Phoenix. That local employment boost comes as the chain continues a period of rapid expansion across the country: following the Goodyear opening, the company will operate 56 stores in a roster of states that includes Texas, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia, Georgia and Ohio.

Best known for sprawling retail footprints, a wide range of hot prepared foods and an unmistakable beaver mascot, Buc-ee’s has become a destination stop for many travelers. The chain’s locations are widely noted for their size and selection; some fans have even nicknamed Buc-ee’s the "Disneyland of convenience stores." Offerings that draw regular crowds include brisket sandwiches, breakfast tacos, kolaches and BBQ; the stores also sell cookies, fudge, pastries and other specialty snack items, alongside Buc-ee’s branded drinks and packaged snacks such as fountain soda, jerky and the chain’s popular Beaver Nuggets, a sweet corn puff snack.

The Goodyear store will be the company’s first in Arizona and arrives amid a steady rollout of locations beyond the chain’s traditional Texas base. With the June 22 opening date set and local officials slated to mark the occasion, Buc-ee’s move into Goodyear represents both another notch in the company’s growth and a new retail and travel amenity for motorists passing through the western suburbs of Phoenix.

Doors will open at 6 a.m. MST on June 22, and the ribbon-cutting with city leaders will follow at 8 a.m., giving residents and travelers access to a full range of fueling and retail services in a single, large-format location. The company’s commitment to a sizeable facility, extensive fueling capacity and a broad menu of food and retail products will be on display from the first morning of operations, when Buc-ee’s begins serving customers at its first Arizona address.
