Arizona run‑ruled in Stillwater, Big 12 Tournament hopes end after 13-1 loss at Oklahoma State

Arizona's bid to reach the Big 12 Tournament ended Friday when Oklahoma State produced a 13-1, seven‑inning victory that evened the weekend series in Stillwater. The Wildcats managed only two hits and were held to a lone solo homer as their record fell to 19-33 (8-20 Big 12).

The Wildcats’ hopes of returning to Surprise Stadium for the Big 12 Tournament were extinguished on Friday night in Stillwater, where Arizona was run‑ruled by Oklahoma State in seven innings, falling 13-1 and seeing its conference season effectively close. The loss, which evened the weekend series after Arizona had eked out a victory in Thursday’s opener, left the Wildcats with little margin for error going into the regular‑season finale and no realistic path to the league tournament without results elsewhere.

The game unraveled almost immediately for Arizona (19-33, 8-20 Big 12). Oklahoma State exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first inning, an opening salvo that included a leadoff home run off right‑hander Owen Kramkowski. The early barrage set the tone for a night in which the Wildcats were unable to mount a meaningful comeback, ultimately being chased by the run rule in the seventh inning.

Kramkowski, a junior and a draft‑eligible arm, struggled in what was described as likely his final collegiate start. He lasted only 1.1 innings, surrendering eight runs — seven of them earned — and closing his junior campaign with a 1-8 record on the season. Arizona’s pitching staff as a whole was overmatched by Oklahoma State’s offense, which continued to tack on runs after the early outburst.

Offensively, Arizona’s production was limited. The Wildcats managed just two hits in the contest and struck out 13 times. Their lone run came on a solo home run by Carson McEntire, who extended his team lead with his 10th long ball of the year. Beyond McEntire’s solo shot, Arizona was unable to string together rallies, and opportunities to cut into the deficit were squandered across the middle innings.

The defeat officially eliminated Arizona from Big 12 Tournament consideration. Entering the weekend, the Wildcats had kept their slim postseason hopes alive with Thursday’s extra‑inning rally to claim the series opener; however, the loss on Friday left them needing a sweep and favorable outcomes from other results to reach the field in Surprise. The program had opened its 2026 campaign at Surprise Stadium back in February, and a return there for postseason play will not happen after Friday’s result.

With one game remaining on the schedule, Arizona is set to play the series finale on Saturday at 10 a.m. PT. A victory would give the Wildcats their second Big 12 series win of the season, but it will not reverse the outcome of Friday’s game nor restore the postseason berth that disappeared with the run‑rule loss. The Wildcats will go into the final contest with the knowledge that their regular season has essentially concluded in terms of conference championship contention.

The final line reflected a night dominated by Oklahoma State across all facets of the game. Arizona’s offense, which had shown glimpses the night before to remain alive in the race, was stymied and limited to a single run on McEntire’s homer. On the mound, Kramkowski’s abbreviated outing and the run total allowed underscored a pitching staff that could not contain the home team’s hitters. With the Big 12 Tournament out of reach, Arizona will turn its attention to closing the season on Saturday and then assessing the offseason ahead.
