Triple-digit heat will persist across much of Southern Arizona this week while forecasters expect daily afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms across Southeast Arizona.
Overnight lows will remain unusually warm: Tucson is forecast to wake to about 82°F Monday, with many valley communities and parts of Cochise County staying in the 70s and Sierra Vista near 72°F.
Daytime highs will climb back into the triple digits—Tucson near 105°F Monday and many Pima County locations over 100°F—while higher-elevation areas remain noticeably cooler.
Across Cochise County, Sierra Vista is forecast near 94°F and communities like Willcox and Bowie could approach 99°F, reflecting hotter readings in lower-elevation deserts and valleys.
Forecasts show temperatures 2–5°F above normal through midweek, trending warmer late week and into the weekend to roughly 6–10°F above average, even with daily convective interruptions.
Storms are expected mainly in the afternoon and evening each day with variable coverage and intensity; some days may see isolated showers while others could produce more widespread or stronger thunderstorms.
Officials recommend monitoring hourly forecasts, seven-day outlooks, live radar and official alerts; the DOE has issued emergency orders authorizing backup generation for some regional grids amid heat-related strain.
