Maricopa County's weekly food-safety roundup highlights Phoenix-area establishments with multiple "risk factor" violations, focusing on temperature-control failures, employee practices and chemical storage issues.
Carniceria Guasave (3632 W. McDowell Rd., Phoenix) was cited three times: no certified food manager on duty, cooked pork belly not held at required hot holding temperature, and ham and hot dogs not kept cold enough.
Carniceria El Herradero (1416 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa) received three violations: no hand-washing station at the grilling station, pans of cooked pork out of the required temperature range, and insecticide spray stored inside a food-preparation room.
Hokkaido Sushi and Asian Bistro (7707 E. McDowell Rd., Scottsdale) was cited for two containers of crab mix kept at room temperature, condiment bottles placed in the ice of a soda dispenser, and cooked beef and dumplings stored inside grocery bags.
Barro’s Pizza (1939 E. Baseline Rd., Gilbert) was cited for employee drinks stored in a prep table, an employee wearing gloves who touched clothing then handled food, and pepperoni and shredded cheese not kept sufficiently cold.
Domino’s Pizza (25 W. Warner Rd., Chandler) was cited after an employee handled a phone then made pizza, paper towels were missing at a hand-wash sink during inspection, and pasta and cheese items were not being kept cold enough.
Not all inspections found violations. Businesses earning perfect scores and the Dirty Dining "Dean’s List" included Original Chop Shop, Renegade Coffee, The Break Room, Salad and Go, Wassan International Kitchen and US Pizza.
The Dirty Dining roundup focuses on major risk-factor items and notes that Maricopa County posts full inspection reports (dates, permit numbers, corrective actions) online; records are retained for about three years.
