Paul N. Hannan, 73, died July 3, 2026, at his home in Tucson. He was a longtime Tucson resident and a University of Arizona alumnus.
Born Aug. 16, 1952, in Virginia, Hannan moved across the Southwest in childhood, settled in Bisbee and attended the University of Arizona. Early experiences included a Boy Scout trip to Central America and seasonal work at Yosemite.
His career included selling solar water heaters for Cornell Energy in the 1980s and later work with United Cities Gas Co. and Coalfield Services in southwest Virginia; he also supported the Wytheville Chautauqua arts festival.
In 2006 Hannan moved to Des Moines, worked as a vendor for the minor‑league Iowa Cubs, married Laurel Foreman in 2008, and the couple retired to Tucson in 2019.
Friends and family recall him as an enthusiastic cook, a history and geography buff, an avid reader (often with a cat on his lap), and someone who enjoyed water aerobics, travel and visits from his step‑grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Laurel; sisters Elizabeth Cree and Barbara Hannan; brothers Patrick and Michael McReynolds; a niece and a stepdaughter’s family. A family gathering is planned and memorial trees may be planted via the obituary page on Legacy.com.
