State meteorologists issued a broad suite of flash flood warnings, flood watches and other weather alerts across Arizona as intense storms moved through Monday; many warnings were in effect Monday evening and flood watches extend into Tuesday.
Multiple flash flood warnings ran with staggered start and end times Monday evening for counties including Santa Cruz, Cochise, Navajo, Mohave, Gila and Coconino, with many notices expiring at various times through late evening.
Cochise County received repeated, overlapping flash flood warnings and flood advisories addressing different elevations and sub‑regions, with multiple separate expiration times posted through the evening.
Flood watches extend into Tuesday across central and northern Arizona, covering mountain ranges, plateaus, river valleys and canyon country including the White Mountains, Mogollon Rim, Grand Canyon country and multiple river valleys.
The National Weather Service issued severe thunderstorm warnings for areas such as Apache County and special weather statements for parts of the Valley; radar showed localized storm totals up to about 4 inches in parts of Coconino County.
Separate extreme heat watches are scheduled to begin midweek and run into next week for broad low‑elevation areas, including large portions of the Phoenix metro, West Pinal, Parker Valley and parts of Yuma County.
Storm impacts included three water rescues in Prescott Valley with flood damage to homes, an emergency diversion of United Flight 2078 to Luke AFB, wind gusts up to 68 mph near Sky Harbor, flight disruptions and thousands briefly losing power.
