The Mesa Board of Adjustment on Aug. 5 approved a permit to expand La Jolla Villas at 1500 E. Dana Ave., increasing the complex from seven units to 15. The action was taken on the consent agenda and recorded as a unanimous 4-0 vote.
The approval is documented as a substantial conformance improvement permit authorizing eight additional dwelling units; the permit and supporting exhibits in city planning materials guide the scope of the expansion.
City planning exhibits include a landscape plan naming trees and shrubs to be planted on site, such as thornless cascelote, leslie roy mesquite, live oak, aloe vera, hesperaloe varieties, pine muhly and spineless prickly pear.
Illustrations submitted with the application include colored elevation drawings that depict the planned facades, entrances and exterior treatments for the expanded building for city review and public reference.
