Around 2 a.m. on Camelback Road near 43rd Avenue, a westbound Kia Sedona allegedly ran a red light and struck a woman who was crossing on a green signal. The pedestrian was hospitalized with life‑threatening injuries.
A motorist at the scene followed the suspected vehicle while on the phone with 911 and relayed the license plate to dispatch. That plate helped investigators identify the registered owner and an address linked to the vehicle.
Detectives set up surveillance at the linked apartment complex. Officers observed 34‑year‑old Yamin Nameye enter a Kia Sedona, stopped the vehicle and took him into custody; parts from the crash scene were later matched to that Sedona.
In an interview Nameye said he had struck something days earlier but could not recall details. He was charged with one count of felony hit‑and‑run and one misdemeanor causing physical injury and booked with bond set at $150,000.
Court records list prior arrests and an active order of protection for Nameye. The investigation and charging process continue while the injured pedestrian remains hospitalized; no additional arrests have been announced.
