Early unofficial results from Maricopa County Elections show Councilwoman Alicia Goforth leading the Northeast Mesa race and Nick Willis ahead in the downtown contest.
District 5 early returns: Goforth 5,461 (34.57%), Aleks Vranicic 4,194 (26.55%), Danny Hart 2,581 (17.73%), Ryan Blakeman 2,133 (13.50%), Amanda Jones 1,208 (7.65%); turnout 30.48%.
In District 4 the early tally put Nick Willis at 2,899 votes (56.55%) and Ray Johnson at 2,227 (43.45%); turnout in the downtown district was 16.94% of registered voters.
District 6 incumbent Scott Somers faced no primary opposition and remained on the ballot as the uncontested candidate; District 6 turnout was reported at 23.44%.
Updated unofficial results with 85–94% of precincts reporting showed Willis at 56.37% in District 4 and Goforth at 34.48% in District 5; Danny Hart’s total rose to 2,801 votes and Somers captured nearly all District 6 votes.
The municipal primary was held July 21, 2026; any runoff (if no candidate tops 50%) would be part of the Nov. 3 general election and successful candidates’ four-year terms begin in January 2027. The Mesa Chamber endorsed Willis, Goforth and Somers.
