EVIT and several East Valley school districts announced a new agreement centered on career and technical education, highlighting hands-on, career-oriented classrooms at the EVIT campus.

Officials said the agreement emphasizes practical, hands-on training environments where students can develop trade skills and career-pathway competencies.
The deal resolves months of legal disputes between EVIT and nine East Valley districts over CTE funding and oversight, and the districts said it pauses the lawsuit.
EVIT will invest nearly $5 million to purchase buses and related transportation services to bring students to its Mesa campuses, enabling classes to resume.
Districts said the agreement allows their 76% pass-through Career and Technical Education funding to be used for satellite programming in their home districts.
A recent Maricopa County Superior Court ruling found EVIT retains authority over CTED program content and quality, but without a new intergovernmental agreement district-operated satellite programs and funds are not subject to EVIT oversight.
