Corona del Sol High School is addressing a recent uptick in rat activity on campus that school officials say has been occurring over the past several weeks.
School representatives confirmed maintenance crews from both the high school and the district office responded immediately after the first reported sighting.
District and site-based maintenance teams have coordinated the response, with custodial staff carrying out measures to limit rodent presence while monitoring the campus.
Principal Nathan Kleve sent a letter to parents notifying families about the sightings and outlining that staff are taking steps to address the issue.
School officials say measures have been implemented and work is ongoing to control the activity, but they have not released additional operational details.
Parents reported severe encounters, including rats in classrooms, droppings and chewed snacks; the district said it was first notified July 15 and engaged campus maintenance and a professional pest control company.
